Electric beats petrol, again
Battery electric propulsion lends itself to sports cars in particular, due to acceleration capabilities which outperform the likes of Ferraris and Porsches. This is made possible by the high torque of electric motors, its efficiency of above 90% and the effectiveness of the drivetrain-motor combination (the continuously variable transmission in combination with the electric motor brings the maximum power to the wheels in any instant).
Furthermore, performance sports cars traditionally play in a high price category. Hence, their electric competitors can be equipped with high performance (and expensive) battery packs, putting them on a similar level in terms of range and top speed.
